Not A Catch
But definitely not a good call across the board
Minnesota Vikings fans have every reason to be aghast at head
coach Mike Tice’s failure to challenge Terrell Owens’ third-quarter
touchdown catch Monday night in Philadelphia. TO never actually
had control of the ball in the end zone, and was certainly well out
of bounds by the time he did catch the ball. Standard Monday (or
Tuesday, in this case) Morning Quarterback hindsight and second-
guessing – you’re going to blow a few calls over the course of a
sixteen-game season.
Yet in the endless Sportscenter hootin’ and hollerin’ about
whether Owens caught the ball, I still haven’t heard anyone
mention that the Vikings defensive back most definitely stumbled
and grabbed TO’s legs before the ball got there. Had TO not
completely shed this poor guy, a pass interference call does not
seem out of the question. Check out a photo (about halfway
down) here.
