Welcome To ThatKidInTheCorner Version 2.0
We Got Ourselves A Birthday Present!
Sigh. It seems like just yesterday that we posted our first-ever musing at the domain www.thatkidinthecorner.com. That's right -- one year ago today, ThatKid went live.
And my how we've changed! We started with just this crappy WYSIWYG software to get the thing running, before upgrading to this snazzy blog management package around the holidays. That was all very lovely. The tone has evolved, but I think the content's mostly stayed true to the original mission: to be a spot on the Internet where I can write whatever the hell I goddam please!
We're celebrating our first birthday with a design resnazzing. I suppose I could have tried to figure out some new functionality or bells/ whistles, but I didn't really know how. I'll look into it for the fall, though. In the meantime, satisfy yourself with a slightly evolved design theme!
The thinking behind the new look was fairly unexciting. I wanted a front page that was all above the fold, and wanted to freshen up the graphics a bit. The parentheses thing, I thought, was a fun way to capture some key ThatKid brand pillars -- those being that (a) I don't really post anything but text and (b) I write with WAY too many parenthetical statements. For the latter, I blame my old friend the Internet, who's always encouraging my brain to pause and look elsewhere whilst I'm in the middle of something. That used to be called a "digression" and it was a no-no; now it's called a hyperlink and it's a sign of evolved thinking!
In the next couple weeks, I beg your indulgence as I continue to work out some of the kinks (including but not limited to getting all the old stuff back on the site and making sure the pages look right). I'll get to it. I swear. And I want to send a gigantic THANK YOU to the ThatKidInTheCorner Design Studio for dealing with all of my needs AND my feelings. He was great.
