It Also Rains In New York
An Abbreviated Defense of the C@L Climate
It's pouring in New York today. Just awful. This isn't a misty drizzle, this is a full-on downpour. It's windy, it's cold, the rain is coming at odd angles -- all in all, it isn't so sweet.
Since I've moved out west, I've gotten a lot of questions in re: the rain thing in C@L. Which is fair. Rain is a big part of the C@L brand. (If I had to pick three things that C@L is all about, it would be (1) rain, (2) lattes, and (3) The Space Needle. Narrowly missing the cut were salmon and Bill Gates.) And it does rain in C@L. However, it is worth noting that said rain tends to be gentle and not entirely inconvenient. And why isn't it entirely inconvenient? BECAUSE I'M NEVER OUTSIDE IN C@L.
That is, I had to slog a few blocks from the subway to the lovely corporate offices hear in the citay and I done got soaked on the way. I'm still damp. Not so sweet.
Of course, said slog did afford me the opportunity to make one of my favorite NYC purchases: the emergency street umbrella. I just think that you get a lot of value for your $3.99. Sure, you'll only get 1.5 uses out of it, and it might as well be categorized as disposable, but hey, for $3.99 (cheaper than a beer! The price of a latte!) you get to be dry.
You rawk, efficient underbelly of capitalism!
