Cowboys Special Teams and the Jersey Shore

Of course Bill Parcells has a soft spot for the kid from Monmouth, New Jersey

Whoa. Big weekend of football. The hometown Nerdbirds managed to pull one out thanks to the clumsy hands of Tony Romo. It was certainly a fun night in the stadium: I lucked into some great seats, the weather held out, and the home team won with a couple wild plays in the fourth quarter.

I have much to say about the Eagles. But that's for another day; mostly I just want to say nice things about Brian Westbrook and marvel at how the Birds suddenly are a power football team. Also, one really doesn't know what to say about the G-Men. They're not terrible, but they just didn't really have their acts together. There are likely many disappointed people in North Jersey this evening.

Speaking of Jersey, I snapped some semi-decent photos of Monmouth College's own Miles Austin's kickoff return touchdown. We should have known that longtime Jersey Shore afficionado Bill Parcells would have a return guy from the 732 (an undrafted rookie no less).

The kickoff (all photos click through):

Josh Brown lines it up

The return develops:

The kick is taken deep by Austin

Austin at the 7...

Austin at the seven

Only seven NFL games remain. Let's hope the Eagles are in three (3) of them!
